The 2018 BIBA Awards are upon us and we are so proud to announce we have been nominated.
We have been nominated for two categories, Family business of the year and Leisure & Tourism Business of the year.
So what are the BIBA Awards?
BIBA stands for Be Inspired Business Awards, they are the awards of the Lancashire chamber of commerce. They are free for any business in Lancashire to enter. There are many Catagories, from Large Business of the year to Micro Business of the year, giving every business a fair chance at an award.
How are winners chosen?
Stage 1. of the awards is a written statement that is filled in by each business. The statements are then read and based on the answers given the applicants are short listed.
Stage 2. of the process is an interview. If you are lucky enough to make it through stage 1, you are then invited to an interview at BIBA HQ. There are four judges that conduct the interview in a Dragon Den style (except with a lot less fire!). Of course the process is nerve wracking but the Judges are very experienced business people themselves and are very kind in the process. They ask good questions and really listen to your answers. They’re no pushovers though so you’d better have your facts and figures straight! After all the interviews are finished the applicants are short listed even further.
Stage 3. of the process sees the judges come and visit your business! This is when the heat is turned up, you are one stage away from winning an award. Unlike some businesses like manufacturing for example where things can slow down or stop whilst the judges visit. We don’t have that luxury, some guests arriving on the same day as the judges will have booked their stay months ago.
We’ve got to show our business in the best light possible for the judges whilst keeping our most important judges, (our guests) happy.
Stage 4. the winner is announced from the final shortlist at the BIBA ball.
